Ever since the Dubai real estate market opened up to foreign ownership, investors have been looking for the best structure to ring-fence their assets.

The DLD entered in a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with both the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), respectively on 4th May 2017 and 7th November 2018, allowing certain DIFC and ADGM companies and other establishments to own real estate within the Emirate of Dubai.

The present article provides a background on the importance of structuring Dubai real estate and explains why the recently-introduced UAE foundations – in combination with ADGM SPVs – constitute the new go-to benchmark.
