UAE Immigration and COVID-19: Quo Vadis?

The UAE Government has introduced new immigration-related measures aimed to protect residents and visitors.

What’s new?
Assuming they have previously opted for the automatic extension of residence visa route, residence visa holders who are outside the UAE are required to re-enter the country before December  31,  2020,  in order to maintain this their visa status. If a residence visa holder fails to re-enter the UAE before this date, their residence will be automatically canceled.

What’s next?
  • Residents who are outside the UAE must register their personal details through the ‘Twajudi for Residents’ online portal that aims to facilitate their return to the UAE in emergency situations.
  • Residents should register through www.mofaic.gov
  • One should inform your M/HQ representative 1 months before you plan to return to the UAE
