What’s new:
As the UAE continues to adjust its offering and framework post the COVID-19 pandemic, the introduction of a broader spectrum of visa options has been the major game changer in the UAE immigration space.
Back in April 2022, the UAE Cabinet approved the first wave of new visa types as the country continued to attracting and retaining global investors, talents and skilled workers from around the globe.
The just announced second wave comes into effect in October 2022. So what’s new?
- UAE Long Term ‘Green Visa’ – 5 Years: Originally announced in 2021 and targeted highly skilled/people, investors, and entrepreneurs. Freelancers will now also fall under this category. The 5-year “Green Visa” is aimed at attracting unique talents in specific niche sectors, e.g. experts, retirees, and people with special expertise. Different conditions apply to each section. The visa is granted to owners of independent businesses or self-employed individuals.
- UAE Multiple Entry Tourist Visa – 5 Years: Now available for all nationalities, in a step primarily aimed at tourists and visitors. The 5-year visa enables tourists to enter multiple times on self-sponsorship and remain in the country for 90 days on each visit, with extension for another 90 days available.
- UAE Job Exploration Visa – 30/90 days: Introduced with the aim of attracting young talents and skilled professionals to explore job opportunities available in the country. Does not require a sponsor or host.
- UAE Tourist Visa for Business – 30 days: Aimed at encouraging investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities locally. Available without requiring a company sponsor or host.
- UAE Tourist Visa for Relative/Friends – 30 days: Enables visitors to apply for UAE entry permit if related or friend of a UAE citizen/resident. Does not require a sponsor or a host.
